Bellapais: 24521100
Risail Complex

The only Greek restaurant in the sultanate, Bellapais sits shrouded behind palms in a parking lot beyond the airport. Despite the fact that it lies off the beaten track, the place has been drawing customers for decades. Its menu is extensive, but the real show stealer is the old man, Rodney, who has been at Bellapais for 20 odd years and who frequently entertains his guests by playing his guitar.

Tapas: 24776565
Al Bandar Hotel, Shangri-La’s Barr al Jissah Resort and Spa

This small restaurant offers a selection of tapas dishes and a range of Spanish drinks. Order a handful of dishes per person – the different breads, garlic prawns, seared scallops and chicken skewers are all excellent.

An alternative to the European- and Asian-style tapas are Middle Eastern dishes such as stuffed vine leaves. Tapas is open daily.
